Electronics design

The intent is to provide information on various aspects of electronics design, be that analogue, digital, printed circuit board (PCB) or power supply.

Electronics can be separated into a number of key areas, as a broad brush these can be:

Analogue

Where a signal is continuously varying in time and has no stepped values. Notes on analogue design can be seen here.

Digital

This is where the world has been converted into numbers, and any signal has discrete stepped values associated with it.

Mixed signal

This the bit where the digital and analogue worlds meet.

Printed circuit boards and EMC

All the electronics need to be mounted on something, and it is usually tracks on a copper clad bit of fibreglass.  Allied to the mounting is trying to prevent the electronics from causing a disturbance to or being subjet to disturbance from other equipment or have problems with static electricity.
